Tomorrow will be the 5th day of the 5th Month of the Lunar Calendar(五月初五), also known as 端午节 aka Dumpling festival. It also happens to be Grandma's Lunar birthday, the only birth-date she knows of herself. Chinese those days relies on the use of the lunar calendar more.
I fondly remember the days she makes her own dumplings for the family, they were always filled with lots of ingredients than glutinous rice, that you often get in the stores these days. People just don't make dumplings the way they used to these days. I remembered, as a child, I went over to Grandma's place to "help" her in the dumpling making. I can never get pass the final stage of wrapping and tying :( I think I only made her more busy..... with my frequent questions and attempts to try to impress her with my folding skills... :) she was ever so patient in showing me again and again how to do the final wrapping and tying up of the dumplings, which I, of course, fail to master... I was just over 10 years old then... if I can recall...
Eating the dumplings mum bought today makes me think of Grandma, her passing 52 days ago finally sets in... Rest in peace ah ma.
A friend triggered me to dig out this photo... Time really passes fast... seems like just not long ago. Still can remember the days spent in WyWy Wonderspace and also Queensway...
